Factors that contribute to men not seeking help:

From birth, boys/men are told not to cry, to “suck it up”, “man up”, and “take it like a man”. These types of messages push boys/men to not share their emotions and to bottle them up!
When it comes to the physical health of boys/men, these same messages are received and therefore it encourages them to not seek out support.
Since the advent of television advertisements, those for health and lifestyles have been directed primarily at women. In a study on the subject, Dr. Salvatore J. Giorgianni, Jr. found that ads were half as likely to be directed at males than at females.

Men often do not pay attention to the health histories of their families. According to a 2022 study by Cleveland Clinic:
