I’ve had a passion for helping others for as long as I can remember and have been fortunate enough to work in a therapeutic role since graduating with my Bachelor of Social Work in 1995. I am constantly looking for ways to enhance my knowledge and training to better meet the needs of my clients. I have completed a Master of Social Work and also have specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused – Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Mindfulness and Gottman Method of Relationship Therapy. I have a special interest in nutrition, complementary and alternative medicine which I hope to further expand my education on in the near future.
I believe counselling/therapy is a journey of self-growth, forgiveness, understanding and acceptance. I follow a holistic approach as I feel our physical health and nutrition have a significant impact on our mental health. I have extensive experience working with those who have suffered various forms of trauma, family origin issues, depression, anxiety, and addictions as well as couples work. Having lived and worked all over Canada, I have experience working with various cultural and ethnic groups. My experience includes working with various Indigenous peoples, and I am proud to identify as Metis. I’ve worked with people of all ages throughout my 20+ years in the field of social work.
